What's the last thing you remember before coming here?

For what is that artifact to be used?

Most people intend to use it as a wish granting device, given that it can be used to accomplish practically anything short of, say, raising the dead.

Well, I'll go with the simple explanation. Basically, in order for everything to work out properly, it's necessary for seven different individuals to summon the spirits of seven long-dead heroes and have them fight to the death.

Yes, quite. Granted, if those things were easy to come by, I'm certain that the world would be... quite different.

I think I'd stay out of it. I've had enough complicated circumstances on my plate. That, and I'm not too fond of the idea of causing someone's death.

I suppose I can't blame you, to be honest. I'm practically getting tired of explaining how that sort of thing works and that's practically my job back home.

No, it's always the same one. No one's actually managed to obtain it yet, actually, if I recall correctly.

I'm participating in the fourth of them, so I'm talking about the three previous ones. Of course, it's very secretive and they're sixty years apart, so I can't speak in great detail about the previous ones, but I presume there would have been some fanfare if someone had actually managed to obtain it in the past.

Who knows? A smart person would have kept quiet about it. That's my opinion, anyway.

Have you asked these other...players that have been here what happens during your round? Or are you more of the "wait and see" type?

Well, it wasn't highly publicized at all. The majority of the populace wouldn't know that it's possible, much less that it exists.

Well, there really isn't a point in it, is there? For one, I'm not going to remember it when I return. Furthermore, it's entirely possible that they're from a parallel world, so they may not be able to shed any light on the matter.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I still find it hard to believe that I wouldn't remember anything, when I get back to my world.

Besides, you shouldn't discount information from parallel worlds.

I'd like to think it was the case that we'd remember things about our stay here, but there's a fair amount of evidence to the contrary. At the very least, I'd like some way to ensure it rather than blindly hoping that I'll be the exception to the rule.

Do you have experience with them, then?

Blindly hoping can be less depressing, though.

I've heard them mentioned a few times, while I've been here. If people who know each other can be brought in from different realities, then those realities are significant enough to be noticed. Their experiences are worth something.

Well, for a variety of reasons that I've alluded to, most of them didn't seem terribly clear on what actually happened in the previous conflict, so I'm not sure how helpful that would actually be.
